This page has all posts on this site’s blog. They will appear in chronological order. This page includes all major blog categories and entries. As I write new entries they will appear here.
Some of the categories include art, anime, manga, reviews, and computers. Blog posts include new or upcoming art, site or shop announcements, or media discussions. Some blog posts will have multiple categories of content in them.
You can look into a category further in the menu above. You can also click on it in any included post.
Check back often for new blog posts! You can join the mailing list for notifications and occasional coupons in the shop!
Apologies for the site being down the better part of a week. I was upgrading my hosting service and something went very very wrong on their end.
I was trying to start Inktober but I feel I’ll end up playing a lot of catch up unless I can continue that tonight. I have ideas but finding the time to put them on paper has been hard. I had a couple sets in mind. A few of them I want to color.
My original computer’s hard drive started to bite the big one. I happened to have another PC from my internship. I spent a number of days getting stuff on to a closed network and on to the other computer. I have enough programs installed again or found that I am back in working order.
Outside of that I’m still waiting to hear back from a convention. It’s its first year and I’ve been waiting on a notification for almost a month. A friend of mine says it’s normal.
Otherwise I’m hoping to make some changes or add things soon. I plan on using the new hosting plan to add a friend’s website, make my design portfolio its own domain, and get my mom’s jelly business on the web.
I’m also probably going to start the web comic again (after the hard drive gaffe). There may also be a film and video game blog me and some friends are working on. I have a few articles in the works. We’re trying to get a stash of content built up first.
I’m on Redbubble! It’s a platform similar to Zazzle and Cafepress, but I hear it’s super friendly to artists. So far it seems to be pretty good. I think some of the products need new templates. However, I do like the platform’s simplicity.
I’m also currently working on a form that I plan on publishing on this site and multiple other platforms. I’m using it to see what may work at my next Artist Alley. I’ll have a work shown, and a series of options. There will be two sections. 1. What artwork should have what merchandise. 2. Should I take this artwork out of my main lineup (older prints). I may also add a section for also diving in to charms, shirts, etc.
I got to hang out with the wonderful, and wonderfully talented, Elentori a while back. I got to use her Cintiq for a bit. When I finished the drawing and got the colors in, she did a good chunk of correcting and shading. I finished it at home.
This was the result:
The other night I did a spontaneous stream that went for about 3 hours. I took a small break about 2/3 of the way through to walk and make tea. I drew another OC, Reya. I’m going to off-screen or in another stream do corrections and finish it up.
She’s already red-lined. Well, green-lined in this case.
I’m hoping to keep this going, especially with what I plan to get for my tax return. 😉
If I can finally get around to doing it, I will also finally get started on ‘So We’re Making a Comic! – Trying to get A(head)’! My writer for ‘Syrens’ and myself have been discussing things we can do with the story to give it more character. He’s suggesting a steampunk world. It would change the tone I think, but I think a cannon AU would be fun instead.
First, I want to share my condolences with anybody from France, and especially Paris, after the events of Friday. I hope that you can stand tall and proud as recovery slowly begins.
On the creative front:
I’m trying to do at least one creative thing a day. This could include doing some practice sketches or painting ideas, actual drawings or paintings, or writing. I’m currently writing a novel version of Syrens so my friend and writer has something to work with based on my original vision and his feedback.
I’m also hoping to start a script or page layouts for the SWMaC stream of consciousness comic soon. I don’t know if I’ll have much time for things till after Christmas. I hope to start something early in 2016. I do foresee at least one, or even two, recurring stories which may get reprinted as standalone things if there’s demand for it,
I’ve also finally gotten progress done on the commission. The people and the foreground have a lot of detail, but the surrounding area is very sketchy.
I’m hoping to start my gaming channel again soon. I’ve been having issues getting footage to work on my arthritic laptop (it does what it can). However, my mom will be coming down for Thanksgiving and she should be bringing my desktop down to me. There’s an issue of wi-fi or similar way of getting a connection, though. I think I can connect two together and string them very carefully with command hooks to the third floor.
I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get in another post before Thanksgiving. So, I hope it’s alright to wish everyone an early Happy Thanksgiving!!!
I think I may have rushed this, or it’s good it took me so little time. This spontaneous sketch has become what the next images will show.
I should really take more progress/process shots…
Ta-da! A cell shaded work! This almost looks like it belongs in Maison Ikkoku or Bubblegum Crisis or something. xD I was thinking of hanging on to the line art for whenever I get to this girl’s story in the whatever-I-feel-like sequel to SWMaC!
You can check out a new sketch on my deviantArt or my patreon page! If you are a patron of at least $5 a month the clean line art will be available for practice.
I’m also doing studies for a commission. I want to take my time on it since it is for a close friend of the family. I’m going to dig around for some larger paper tomorrow for the final drawing. It will be colored digitally.
I decided to give WordPress a try after learning how to practice it on a local (personal computer-based) host. Fairly nice and easy to use.
I have added a few pieces of art in between the design change. You can check out the gallery to see it! I also fixed some of the links for socialization and other art sites. The second drop down from the right is where my artwork is available for purchase. The rightmost drop down menu has links that the social media menu (bottom of page) didn’t recognize. This includes my deviantArt, pixiv, and other sites.
Some pages allow comments now and I may try introducing a forum section if traffic increases enough. I think there are also working forms again!
So, enjoy the new site! There may be some silly small updates while I clear out the dust and test things. With this new platform I should be able to update it more often now, as well. Down the road I will work on getting my blogger/blogspot posts on here.
Ohayocon is in a matter of weeks and I’m getting excited. Still a lot to prepare for but I’m sure I’ll be done in time. Something that got started this year I appreciate is a map of the artists!
I’ll have my usual post-con sale on my store. I’ve also recently created a Patreon page. I’m seeking monthly support so I can work towards supporting myself fully on my artwork. It works kind of like a subscription or an ongoing kickstarter. Patronage comes with rewards like first looks, access to WIPs or FAQs, and free postcards, prints, or posters.
Aside from Ohayocon I’m working on finding some employment. I had an internship interview yesterday and I’m talking with a recruiter tomorrow about a temporary graphic design contract. I’ve been doing a lot more applying i hopes I start 2015 employed.
I’ll close this here. I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday and will have a Happy New Year!
How’s everyone been doing? In general life I’ve been working on finally getting a license. I am also waiting on some interview offers. I hope something comes of it finally!
I’m also holding a sale at my store! Entering xmas14 at checkout gives you 14% off!
Tomorrow my mother and myself are going to start making Christmas cookies. I think we may be starting with spritz cookies. I’m wondering if it’s too soon? The tree isn’t even up and decorated yet. We loosely celebrated St. Nicholas day today. I guess it’s the traditional day for hanging your stocking and getting candy. I hope I can be in more of a holiday spirit this year than last year.
In the art world I’ve been working on some more sketches for Ohayocon. That’s coming up the last weekend of January going in to February. I’m also waiting to hear back from one in Akron called Zipcon.
I’ve also been trying to develop some of my stories a bit. I haven’t written anything down yet but I think I should.
I think the biggest thing is that I also started a gaming channel. I call it the GameSour Channel. I have quite a bit of content on there already if you want to check it out!
